About Leanne

Leanne Pittsford is an entrepreneur, investor and diversity technology thought leader. She’s the founder of Lesbians Who Tech, the global community of 10,000 queer women in tech and launching a new company called CodeUP, a new platform for software developers of all levels to showcase their skills.

Previously, Leanne founded and led Start Somewhere, a design and technology agency focused on helping social good organizations. During her time at Start Somewhere she launched Social Good Tech Week, Lean Impact—which helps social good organizations use Lean Startup principles—and When You Work at a Nonprofit, a fun and creative Tumblr blog only the nonprofit community would understand.

Before starting her own company she was the senior director at Equality California, the largest statewide LGBTQ organization in the U.S. and worked on the No on Prop 8 campaign. Leanne was also on the board of StartOut, a nonprofit that supports LGBTQ entrepreneurs and co-founded the Lesbian Entrepreneurship Mentoring Program during her time on the board. She was recently named a 40 under 40 in the San Francisco Bay Times and some of her current investments include Avari and Republic Restoratives.

She travels between San Francisco, DC and Berlin with her two adorable dachshunds Sauce and Magoo #saucemagoo and moka coffee pot. You can find her on Twitter at @lepitts.
